Jain Professional Ethics: Making a Climate-Friendly Living

We all need to make a living, but what would it mean to make a "climate-friendly" living?

Jain ethical approaches to career and professional life drawn from śrāvakācāra texts leave us with much to ponder in terms of the climate impact of our professional work. Written primarily by Jain ascetics to instruct lay conduct in all dimensions of life, śrāvakācāra scriptures indeed provide very specific guidance for the types of careers we should choose to reduce the ecological harm caused by our professional work.

Join Professor Christopher Jain Miller for the 30th Annual Chander Mohan Jain Memorial Lecture where he will present "Jain Professional Ethics: Making a Climate-Friendly Living" which will explore the important connections between the work that we do and its potential effects on the climate in light of some core theories in Jain professional ethics gleaned from śrāvakācāra texts. Leave inspired and more aware of how to make a righteous living that is good for us and our collective climate future.
